I doodle a lot—and if you’ve been around me when I’m by a pen and paper, I’m sure you know what I mean. Doodling–along with journaling—has kept me sane over the years. It has been a form of expression and therapy for me, and even when I feel like I’ve messed up in life, I can’t mess up in doodling. There are no rules to follow and there are no limitations, so I can’t go the wrong direction.
Many times I find that I mindlessly transport to a little “doodle bubble”–I’ll zone out from the world and just pick up a pen and start creating shapes and patterns…with no plan in mind…and I’ll just watch as all the lines, shapes, and colors come together to form a little piece of art. I don’t think much about what I am doodling, so I use the time to let my mind wander and think about other things in life.
So this is a place where I’ll be sharing some of my doodles with you–some may have stories associated with them; some may have no meaning behind them; some I’ll leave up for your interpretation. I’ll share with you things that make me happy, and I hope it can put a smile on your face too. I’ll occasionally write notes to people or share their stories…because I want the world to know how much they mean to me and how awesome they are. I’ll share thoughts and epiphanies with you, and hopefully you will do the same with me.
I write because I simply can’t not write. If my writing can inspire you in some way, make you feel less alone in your thoughts, make you smile, make you feel less weird—then you’ve made my day.
So to all friends and strangers (or soon to be friends): Welcome to doodle bubble.
